The Noble Shaykh Dr. Ahmad Baazmool حفظه الله stated:
Shaykh ‘Abdullah Al-Aḥmad حفظه الله said to me: I asked Ibn Salfīq Is Shaykh Usāmah (Al-‘Utaybī) Salafī to you?
He (Ibn Salfīq) said: No.
Shaykh ‘Abdullah Al-Aḥmad حفظه الله (then asked him): Then he's a Mubtadi’ (innovator)?
Ibn Salfīq said (in response): No.
Shaykh ‘Abdullah Al-Ahmad حفظه الله then said: So, it means that he is in a state between two states?!!
Ibn Salfīq became silent!
The statement of Ibn Salfīq is similar to the statement of the Mu'tazilah who say that the one who commits a major sin is not a Muslim nor is he a Kāfir, but, he's in a state between two states. Him saying Shaykh ‘Usāmah Al-‘Utaybī is not a Salafī is clear tabdi’ and no one from the Kibār Al-'Ulamā have preceded him in this. Not even those who have criticized Shaykh ‘Usāmah حفظه الله! But yet, The ‘Allāmah Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi حفظه الله has oppressed Ibn Salfīq when he described him as being from the Sa'āfiqah?!
